Welcome to Vagari’s 7th winter of sailing. We have put 8,000 miles under Vagari’s keel during those cruises but this year like last year won’t be a high mileage year. We just don’t have the lust for the long cruises that we did when we started cruising but we still enjoy living on board and sailing near our homeport. Welcome aboard! We hope you enjoy our blog. Your comments, questions and suggestions are appreciated and encouraged.

SOME BACKGROUND

We are in our early 60’s, in good health, retired, financially secure and ready for some adventure.

Stan started sailing when he was in his mid-teens. Rhea started even younger while crewing for her older brother during club races but never got bitten by the sailing bug like her husband did.

We have owned several sailboats and have done some cruising in Southern California and the West coast of Mexico but it’s hard to do any extended cruising when you have the working disease.

As soon as we were permanently cured of that disease we purchased a 41’ sailboat in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico and spent 5 weeks on her in the late spring-summer of 2004. San Carlos is an easy 7 hour drive due South of our home.

Vagari is a 1991 Morgan 41 Classis MKII center cockpit sloop. She was purchased new in 1991 by Captain John McMahon and sailed from San Diego to Mexico in 1996. She cruised the West coast of Mexico until 2003. We purchased her in March of 2004. Captain McMahon took superb care of her and made numerous modifications and improvements. Vagari was the best maintained and equipped vessel we have ever seen. Thank you John, we are trying to meet the high standards you set.
