The village was a "company town" that supported commercial sea saltpans. The processed that raw salt, shipping finished product in large bags. Sometime between the 50's and the 70's depending on whom you talk to the owners shut down the saltpans and abandon the village. My pure guess is that economical refrigeration sealed the fate for the operation.
We have lots of neat photos of the village and some good shots of Isla Carman. I will post them ASAP.
We are in a picturesque anchorage that is new to us and plan to try another new anchorage tomorrow.
Via radio Tuesday evening.
